The Reacharounds are back with a brand new full length album ‘Guitarmageddon’. This long player wouldn’t of seemed out of place on the great labels of the 1970’s such as Stiff, Capitol & UK Records.
The Reacharounds are George Riley, Dave Knowlson, Davro & Rossi. Veterans of the live music scene, they are Leeds’ answer to stadium Rock. Stand out tracks are….
‘Doctor Doctor’ smooth bar groove which could easily be slipped into the middle of The Blues Brothers soundtrack.
‘Honeymoon Period’ is for fans of The Steve Miller Band Both, vocally & with the guitars. There’s a big fat Kick rolling through the verses that lifts into a chorus that, would probably be best consumed on an American Freeway.
‘Stunts’ is probably the most experimental track on the album with a wonky bass hook, which made me think of Ian Dury & 10CC.
‘Wife Of Riley’ is probably the most classic rock sounding track, with some duelling guitar action that The Eagles wouldn’t be ashamed of.
‘Toast’ finishes off the album nicely with Rosie Doonan on guest vocals layering up her harmonies like a gluttonous trifle of Gospel tinged creaminess. Well worth checking out.
For fans of Steve Miller, 10cc, Z Z Top & alike.
