Further Information Peppermint Lounge - Peppermint LoungeThis is fantastic! A mix up of genre baiting music...Spoken word extracts, sampledelic action, looped guitars, gorgeous vocals and lyrics. Beta Band, RJD2 and Department Of Eagles are the closest siblings i can think of but to be honest that's probably due to the spot on production values and use of stereo. Highly recommended journey into sound.... CD - Self Released - PL001 - £4.99 Other recordings by this artistJumbo recomendationsOther records on this label Elephants On Acid - Ghost Train E.P.Another slice of dirty blues rock action from our local hard rock heroes...Playing it loose, funky and channeling the best of the late 60's/early 70's blues-rock scene into an awesome 5 tracker. CD EP - Self Released - ELEPH007 - £4.99 Bearfoot Beware - Introducing The Elegant Philanthropist E.P.Oddly paced and off kilter indie rock/pop that reminds me slightly of the Stourbridge scene (Neds, Wonderstuff et al). The main track on it for me has got to be 'Bamboo Nightlife' which is a jaunty punk funk affair. CD EP - Self Released - BFB001 - £3.49 BLBX - OzeanLook at the simple packaging that hides such a magnificent blur of sounds, from funked up glitch to splintered crunchy crazyness. It's rather accessible despite it's off kilter sonics, and well thought out and concieved and thankfully not a one track pony...Although they have a 'sound' it's not Xeroxed out in every track, 5 different sounding cuts soaking up a lot of different influences...Promising for sure. This will probably be the start of something big. Recommended stuff (not sure if it's their debut but i can see a bright future). CD - Self Released - BLBX001 - £1.99 Club Smith - Club Smith4 Tracker from local heroes Club Smith who somehow manage to conjure a marvellous, epic, exciting EP yet with a DIY approach... Individual handmade sleeves and a great sense of production!!! Very much one's to watch and it seems i'm not the only one who thinks so..Artrocker gave it a great review too! CD - Self Released - CS001 - £2.99 Cowtown - Excellent Domestic Short HairCome With FREE MP3. Superbly fun follow up to their debut album see's them riffing on the theme of the first's Happy-Happy Joy-Joy quirkiness. Like eating way too many E-Number multicolour sweets and playing on the megadrive this is very much in the mold of Japanese indie-pop of the early 90's but with the tentacles, narrative and vibrancy of the last 30 years of punk-funk surging through it's J-Pop joypad. Think B-52's, Klaxons, Devo, Cissy et al. Funky, Punky and Fizzy!!! Excellent stuff! LP - Self Released - CT002 - £9.99 Stella Frays - Playground TacticsThe Stella Frays pour it all into an 8 track mini album...Touches of Manic Street Preachers, Kasabian, Stereophonics and even a dash of The Rolling Stones...Top notch indie rock from these local boys. CD - Self Released - STELLA001 - £6.99 Potter - This Is Leeds Volume 3 (I Am The Realist)More dynamite fresh talent from Leeds...Earning your respect from some sick rhymes and flows with a positive message throughout...Educational flows, realism and some stories of the street run over some slick beats. Show your respect and support the man so he can keep producing albums like this. CD - Self Released - POTTER00X - £8.99 Hail Animator - We Live In BoxesDebut E.P. from local band that at the moment is garnering plenty of acclaim round these parts...Indie rock not afraid to lend itself to progressive tendencies and with a dancable vibe to boot means you may just want to come in and check what all the fuss is about. CD - Self Released - HAC01 - £4.99 Burning Hank - Seriously, It's Getting Us Down Now12 tracks of songs that come heavily recommended indeed. It's an absolute gem that combines the fun and frolics of the Modern Lovers and Pavement into a more refined version of indie with folky and alt country splashes. With songs name checking how great Radio 4 is you know you're in great hands. A gem of of an album by local heroes. CD - Self Released - HANK001 - £5.99 Open Disregard - Black And BlueBringing to mind classic punk like the Spermbirds and Slapshot...Shouty rage, sweet licks and riffs and a powerful sense of energy...Punk rock thrash that'll get to you! CD EP - Self Released - OD001 - £4.99 Philip Cockerham - Waiting For The Age Of ReasonThis brilliantly realised folk album seems to pick up on the multitude of folk styles to create a hotpot of flavours...From the politics and wit of Billy Bragg, Nic Jones et al to the new stylings of the current crop like the Unthanks or Imagined Village...It totally traverses the old and new yet Philip has his own style and take on things too...even a nod to Colin Blunstone's beautiful harmonies...Spot on stuff.
