Label: YaDig?
Release date: 09.08.2009
If truth be told, this is one of the most eagily awaited albums we've had in the shop for a long time...What's more, it's a 100% D.I.Y. release done all in house, from the masterful recording by James Atkinson to the lovingly screen printed sleeves by Roz...Even the artwork by Sami Graystone makes it occupy more the special package territory than a simple release...Yes it looks beautiful but i suppose all in all it really has to live up to the music...and live up it does!!! Ten perfectly crafted and lovingly played songs reel us in, from Sam's brilliant rearrangements of tradition folk songs to brand new compostitions...This isn't tainted with any Nu-Folk gimmicks, it's simply tradional folk/country/roots music brought right up to date, and boy oh boy Sam can really play and sing. Backed brilliantly by Pete Carlill and David Broad on a few of the songs too he's already getting some massive critical reviews in the traditional/specialist press it's even started to cross over with Artrocker hailing as one of the top 3 albums of the year so far. VERY VERY RECOMMENDED debut release on brand new label YaDig?.
