Machine numbered. This jazz organ player released one signature album in 1980, now impossible to find on LP vinyl. It includes the 'rare groove' Be-Bop Boogie. Recorded at the same studio as Gil Scott-Heron's "The Bottle"
Hilton Felton’s eclectic album ‘A Man For All Reasons’ has been hard to find (/unaffordable) for far too long. If you haven’t heard it already, you should give it a listen for so many reasons. If you’re a jazz fan, you’ll be impressed at Felton’s jazz organ expertise. If you’re a film fan, you’ll be wondering why the opening track doesn’t kick off all films, because to me it feels like the red velvet curtains should only twitch to the sound of ‘A Man For All Reasons’. If you’re a funk fan, your mind might explode as ‘Bee Bop Boogie’ hits your eardrums. If you’re not a soul fan, ‘Love’s Losers’ will make you one. If you’re anybody, you’ll wonder how a mortal being can create a masterpiece like ‘The Light Of Mankind’. For me, this closing track is the one that confirms Hilton Felton is the best man for all reasons.
