Julie Dawson is lead singer/songwriter of Galway-formed band NewDad. Whilst on hiatus in between albums, she connected with electronic producer Jack Hamill (aka, Space Dimension Controller). The resulting album project, "Bottom Of The Pool", takes a sonic detour from Julie’s work with NewDad, allowing her to express her songwriting and vocals in a new and otherworldly context built by Jack. The album, with its central theme revolving around escapism, reflects Julie’s desire to create something entirely separate from her daily routine. This sense of freedom allowed both Julie and Jack to explore new artistic territories without any expectations, resulting in a looser creative process for the pair. The album's narrative captures this essence, landing as a deep and immersive record that transcends the mundane. The album artwork is a piece created by Katherine Bradford, an American artist based in New York City, known for her figurative paintings of swimmers that are abstract and metaphorical.
