Is there a purer, more moving love song than this? I think not. I was completely blown away by it when I first heard it and still am on every listen. Its lo-fi feel makes it all the more romantic and creates room for fantasised backstories of the song being put together in a bedroom to woo a teenage crush. The real backstory is even better. If you don’t know about brothers Donnie & Joe Emerson and that they grew up completely in the middle of nowhere, you may be as enamoured by their story as I was, and as ever grateful as me that their dad bought a tractor with a built-in radio that sewed the seed of their taste for music. I can’t think of a more appropriate song to own on heart-shaped vinyl.
