Amidst a night of hazy scenes in their native Isle of Wight, Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers found themselves at the summit of a Ferris wheel. They decided to start a band. The band is called Wet Leg. Arming themselves with guitars, a penchant for French disco, effervescent imaginations and a shared love of the The Ronettes and Jane Birkin, through to Ty Segall and Bjork, they set about making some recordings of their own. Enter their debut single, Chaise Longue.

Wet Leg were formed on a Ferris wheel with the pledge to ‘have more fun than every other band’. Their playful lyrics and lobster-centred music videos certainly reassure me that they’re committed to this vow - this is seriously fun music! But don’t let that detract from the talent on display here. After just one single ‘Chaise Longue’, Wet Leg became a sensation which is hardly surprising when you listen to this insanely catchy groover – I defy you not to replay until your needle wears thin.
