‘Words For The Dying’ was released in 1989 by the former Velvet Underground member John Cale as his twelfth solo album. Based in part around poetry by Dylan Thomas, the Welsh multi-instrumentalist conceived the album as a protest against the Falklands War. Indifferently reviewed upon release, time has been kind to this intricate, baroque series of art-rock and spoken word suites.
