Surprise album from the Queen Of Country Pop. Taylor Swift emerges from lockdown with a 17 track album of intimate indie folktronica, produced by Aaron Dessner from the National. Written by Taylor with Dessner, Justin vernon, Jack Antonoff and the mysterious William Bowery, it's an understated masterpiece of stripped back acoustic electronica, reminiscent of Sufjan Stevens in places; the Autumn to the Summery tie-dye pop of Lover. It also features a duet with Bon Iver.
Ok I hear you, what are Jumbo doing pushing a record by that bratty American country singer turned pop star? But as those of you who have seen the Netflix documentary 'Miss Americana' will know, she's actually a serious if not troubled (bar the millions sat in her bank account) artist. 'Folklore' is without a doubt her best piece of work to date which after closer inspection comes as no surprise when she's got the likes of Justin Vernon (Bon Iver), and Aaron Dessner (The National) guiding her through. Recorded during lockdown, Swift presents a series of stripped back, lo-fi acoustic/electronic pop songs the likes of which Sufjan Stevens would be proud of. Just give it a go would ya!
